Associação de Comunidade de Afegãos em Portugal (ACAP) through the ( Confidence building, empowerment and skills development for vulnerable AFghan women refugees) project under the UNHCR innovation fund 2023, provide a 6 months sewing and tailoring course for 12 Afghan refugee women ( Mar - Aug 2023). The objective of the project is to train and improve the Afghan refugee women capacity to learn sewing and tailoring skills and produce Afghan traditional women clothes for possible business in the future or employment opportunities to assist their families. The project participated in an exhibition organized by Largo Residencia called ( BAIRRO em FESTA 2023) along with other associations and organizations reserved a place where products of the trainees of the sewing and tailoring course were shown during the exhibition between 22-25 June 2023 in Lisbon, Portugal. Various groups of people attended the exhibition and the products of women also attracted visitors. It went successfully, and some of the products were sold. The project is planning to attend another exhibition possibly in July 2023.
The general goal of the project is building the capacity of women to enable them future employment and entrepreneurship to address the economic challenge of refugee families and job opportunities.
